About Monster 8
Kaiju No. 8 also known in English as Monster 8, is a famous Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. It has been serialized on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ application and website since July 2020. The series was licensed by VizMedia for english release in North America.
The series has won the 2021 Next Manga Award in the web category. It is the fastest Shonen Jump series to exceed 30 million views. As of February 2021, it has reached 70 million views.
The series is about strange monsters known as kaiju who regularly attack the people of Japan. After their town was destroyed by the monsters, Kafka Hibino and Mina Ashiro both vowed to become members of the Japanese Defense Force. While Mina has become the commander, Kafka has failed the entrance many times. Kafka gains superpowers after a small monster enters his body. The defense force named him Kaiju no. 8. He becomes the first monster to escape the Defense Force. It remains to be seen what twists and turns take place as the story progresses.
