The story revolves around a boy named Shiki Granbell who lives on the planet Granbell. He is the only human on that planet. His parents have abandoned him. The mechanical Demon King Ziggy adopted him as his grandson. Shiki inherits the legendary Edens Zero space warship from his adoptive grandfather. He lives among robots until he meets a B-Cube (a video-sharing website based on YouTube) content creator Rebecca.

Rebecca is from the planet Blue Garden. She was abandoned by her family. Her blue cat Happy has a similar history of abandonment. When Happy got run over by a truck the only way to save him was to turn him into a robot. Rebecca and Happy travel to planet Gtanbell to record video footage for her B-Cube channel. She becomes friends with Shiki. They escape planet Granbell together. Later they will set out for a space voyage in search of Mother, the creator of the Universe.

When Shiki was very young, he used to look at the sky with wonder and curiosity in his eyes. One day when he saw a shooting star, his robot friend mockingly told him “that’s a dragon.” The look in his eyes was more important than the joke. Humans living in limitations always have a desire to explore the unknown and Edens Zero is all about that desire.
