Why Dave Bautista Exits from Guardians of The Galaxy franchise? Check Out The Details

Former WWE wrestler and Hollywood actor Dave Bautista wraps us his MCU journey after Guardian of Galaxy Vol 3. The actor told the media he no longer will be part of the journey and he misses that the character’s story will end abruptly. Here are the details.

Why Leaving MCU

Bautista portrays the celestial Marvel character Drax: The Destroyer. The character has been a major part of the Guardian of The Galaxy franchise since 2014.  Recently Bautista shared to IGN that he won’t reprise his role of Drax for any reasons. He said that the 3rd franchise of the GOTG is: “probably going to be the end of Drax.”

Dave’s major concern is his age. The actor thinks that his age won’t justify the comic character anymore. He cleared on Twitter on fans queries: “I’ll be 54 yrs old for god’s sake.” Bautista’s sudden exit leaves GOTG fans in shock. In the comics, Drax has a wholesome storyline, but in the movie version it has cut down to little.

While talking about GOTG Vol 3, Dave told: “I don’t know what the script of the third film is, to be honest with you. There was a script years ago that obviously is going to have to change because the whole direction of the Marvel universe has changed.”

Director James Gunn’s Reaction

When Bautista tweeted that he atleast may not be the actor to play Drax anymore, GOTG director James responded and cleared all facts. His response was: “There’s no Drax for me without you, buddy! You ARE the MCU’s Drax the Destroyer and as far as I’m concerned, could never be replaced. And you have the righr to do whatever you want with your acting choices!…” This clears that Drax’s journey will surely ends after GOTG Vol 3.

However there was a slight chance for Drax and even the character Mantice to have their own spin off shows. According to Dave, James Gunn had some thoughts to reprise these characters and show their whole storyline. Dave shared: “There were talks for a while about a Drax and Mantis film. It was really because it was James Gunn’s idea… I thought it was such a brilliant idea, but I haven’t heard any follow-up from the studio.” He also added: “I don’t think they’re very interested, or it doesn’t fit into the way they have things mapped out.”
