After a long hustle and bustle, Micheal B. Jordan produced Static Shock is finally on track with Warner Bros. and DC. According to the report by Hollywood Reporter, the movie featuring fan-favorite Virgil Hawkins casts Randy Mckinnon to pen down the script.
Hawkins is one of the strongest superheroes of DC Comics with the ability to control electromagnetic fields which he gained after getting interacted with an unknown radioactive substance. This superpower of Hawkins helped him to become a hero known as Static. Hawkins came into light as a superhero after the popular animated series of 2001 titled Static Shock.
Static was originally introduced to audiences in 1993 by The Milestones comics, an organization established by black writers to help their community grow. Seeing the popularity of Static, DC comics distributed the series, but its popularity was not strong enough to manage to gain the continuity like Batman and Superman.
During the annual DC Fandom, the makers announced that the Milestones are coming back with Static Shock digital comics, slated to see its premiere in February. However, due to some reason, Static Shock #1 has been delayed until Summers and will make its debut on June 15.
The presence of the superhero has been missed by the audience and that became a big reason for Hawkins’ comeback. Recently the Milestone universe promised that the Static will soon make its way to the mainstream.
McKinnon came to light after his work with Disney’s latest football effort named Safety. And once again the writer is going to reunite with the producer of his former film Reginald Hudlin to bring the Static to the big screen.
The live-action Static Shock produced by Micheal B.Jordan doesn’t have a release date or any lead actors attached, but fans can expect to receive more information regarding the highly-anticipated film soon.
