Burt Reynolds Resented & Hated Boogie Nights, But Why?

It is a 1997 American period drama movie that received tons of nominations and numerous awards. Boogie Nights was created by Paul Thomas Anderson which eventually earned $26.4 Million in the US and $16.7 Million in foreign.

Burt Reynolds is an American actor who was acknowledged as a Sex Symbol and an American popular culture. He was one of the casts in Boogie Nights, which was set in the porn industry in the 1970s. Although, Burt became a bank corrupt because of his unhealthy habit of spending and bad investments but Boogie Nights gave him a chance to win an Oscar Nomination.

The reason why he hated Boogie Nights

Burt played the character of Jack Horner which was liked by many. Even though, Burt had an opposite reaction towards Boogie Nights. He claimed that Boogie Nights was not his kind of film. Moreover, he was uncomfortable playing his role.

I think mostly because he was young and full of himself. Every shot we did, it was like the first time. I remember the first shot we did in ‘Boogie Nights,’ where I drive the car to Grauman’s Theater. Isn’t that amazing?’ And I named five pictures that had that same kind of shot.” said Burt Reynolds.

Furthermore, Burt made a statement about Anderson saying ” I want to hit him”. It’s quite a huge statement to make. As Anderson has received numerous awards for his films. The only reason for Burt hating the Boogie Nights was that he didn’t connect to the role much. According to his own statement, he was uncomfortable and that’s why didn’t like his work in Boogie Nights.
