About The Promised Neverland

The Promised Neverland manga is originally written by Kaiu Shirai. The chapters were published in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. All the chapters are compiled into 20 volumes with a few side stories published later.

A spinoff manga was written by Shuhei Miyazaki and published in 2019. Apart from this, Nanao wrote 4 light novels from 2018 to 2020.

The story focuses on the orphaned children living an idyllic life in Grace Field House. Emma, the protagonist, with her friends Norman and Ray, enjoy the freedom and the privileges like excellent food and beds. However, the orphanage is isolated from the rest of the world and the children are forbidden to cross the gates.

As the three find one of the children dead, they realise that they are brought up only to be devoured by the demons. With this, begins their ultimate quest for survival, starting by finding a way to escape Grace Field House.

Season 2 Episode 1 Summary

The first episode begins right where the last season ended. Emma, Ray, and other children search for William Minerva, a supporter. As Ray manages to find his location using the messages on the textbooks, he realizes that the textbooks are helping them to survive.

Later, the children are chased by a giant demon. Ray baits the demon, allowing Emma and the rest of the escapees to get away safely.

He is further chased by other demons until a man named Sonju saves his life. Emma and the other children come across a woman who takes them to the sanctuary. Later Ray joins them as well. The episode ends with suspense as Ray and Emma find out that both Sonju and the woman are demons.

Season 2 Episode 2 Preview and Release Date

Episode 2 of the second season will be out on January 14 or 15 depending on the time zone. As per the preview, it seems that the episode will clarify the mystery behind the woman and Sonju. You can watch it online on Crunchyroll, Hulu, Funimation, and HIDIVE. Season 2 will be out on Netflix soon.
