Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is on a winter break and will not air a new episode on January 3, 2021. The previous episode titled The Assassin, Mugino aired on December 27, 2020. Mugino didn’t appear in the original Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, even though he was a close friend to Konohamaru. Mugino debuted in Boruto Naruto Next Generations Episode 158 in the Kara Actuation Arc.
In the previous episode, the backstory of Mugino was revealed. Hima tells Boruto that their mother’s birthday is coming and she wishes to five her a vase as a gift. She asks Boruto what would he gift mom. He tells her that he would think of something after their missions. As for missions, the Team 7 shinobis has to carry out their themselves because Konohamaru is on unexpected missions.
Boruto Learns about Mugino’s Past
Later, Mugino and Boruto run into each other, when the former is running away from those he has owned money. Mugino tells Boruto has he has lost all of his money after helping a desperate kid. Boruto doesn’t belive but helps him anyway and Mugino invites him to his house. He asks his sensei about his past life and Mugino tells him how he became the jounin of Konoha.
Mugino was previously an orphaned refugee in the Land of Fire. He revealed that how Kiri ninja forced him to become an assassin and assassinate late Third Hokage. Hiruzen realised that the kid was under influence and allowed Mugino to stab him so that he could catch the Kiri ninja watching nearby. The Third Hokage defeated the Kiri-nin and removed the curse seal from Mugino.
Hiruzen authorized his entry to the academy and eventually, he became a good friend with Konohamaru, Hiruzen’s grandson. Boruto Naruto Next Generations Episode 181 will air on 10 January 2021, Sunday at 5:30 PM JST. The episode will air on TV Tokyo and stream on Crunchyroll. International viewers can stream the new episode after buying a premium subscription on Crunchyroll. However, if you do not wish to buy, then you can watch Episode 181 next week for free.
The upcoming episode is titled, The Vessel, which will most probably introduce Kawaki.
