When the trailer of Bob Odenkirk’s new action film, Nobody dropped, viewers quickly grabbed the John Wick-esque vibe. Now, a theory suggests that the upcoming film and acclaimed John Wick film series takes place in the same universe. However, this isn’t the first time that any action thriller has been linked to John Wick universe. Charlize Theron starrer Atomic Blonde was previously claimed to take place in the same universe as Keanu Reeves’ John Wick.
The trailer featured a mild-mannered suburban family man who suffers from the post-traumatic stress disorder. He has been branded a nobody by his neighbours and even his neighbours after he declined to fight and stop the home intrusion. But the father has to forcibly return to his past life and throw brutal punches at the bad guys. Bob Odenkirk’s’ character literally turns into a one-man killing machine, which amazingly shows resemblance to John Wick.
It is no surprise that the film feature John Wick vibe because the key production crew member had previously worked in the John Wick film series. Derek Kolstad is handling the screenplay, who prepared the script of all three John Wick films. The project also features acclaimed director David Leitch, who directed the first John Wick film back in 2014.
How Hutch Mansell is connected to John Wick?
Nobody’s official trailer featured several elements from the universe of John Wick. Bob Odenkirk’s character Hutch Mansell certainly had a connection with underworld or criminality, since he wanted to leave the old life behind. There are chances that he is connected to the hotel chain, The Continental, where he worked as an auditor. If you have watched John Wick films, you may have heard the word the Adjudicator, which closely fits with the auditor.
Mansell’s previous job, as described in the trailer, was an auditor, which hints that he may be the assassin of the organization, High Table, that controls criminality in John Wick. Looking at the ability of Mansell in the trailer, we can conclude that he wasn’t the normal auditor who audits for a company. The word auditor may be the code name used for the assassins under the command of The Adjudicator for High Table.
