If Los Angeles Clippers manages to close out the series on Sunday, then they will face-off the city rival, Los Angeles Lakers, in the Western COfnerene Finals. Lakers eliminated Houston Rockets 4-1 in the best-of-seven series and confirmed their place in the conference finals after ten years.
The Nuggets showed a fighting spirit on the fifth game and avoided elimination. Actually, the team performs better when they are on the brink of elimination. They were in a similar situation when they played Utah Jazz in the first round. Nuggets sent Jazz home after making a comeback from a 3-1 deficit to a 4-3 series victory. Nuggets coach Michael Malone said that the team has survived on Game 5 to die another day.
Jamal Murray, who hadn’t quite impressive games thus far in the second round scored an incredible 26 points in the fifth game. Denver’s rookie Michael Porter Jr. also came out big during their 111-105 victory in Game 5. For the Clippers, their shaky defense caused them to blow the lead and eventually lose despite Kawhi scoring 36 points.
