Apple Airpods Pro has been rocking the market sales numbers ever since its release on October 30, 2019. The new reports claim that the company is already on the works to develop Airpods Pro 2. However, the wireless earbuds will not release this year, or even in early 2021.
Airpods Pro 2 will probably have fascinating features as Airpods Pro. A recent patent filed by Apple Inc. was discovered by PatentlyApple. The new patent suggests that the upcoming Airpods Pro will have a completely new feature that any other earbuds don’t have. The new features could be the touch and air features in a small AirPods Pro 2.
Such air and touch gestures will surely enhance the overall experience in already amazing active noise-canceling earbuds. The air and touch gestures will exhibit through the gadget’s on-device capacitative sensors and force-control sensors. You can make several air gestures by initiating it via touch gestures on the stem. Say, if you tap on the stem, then the existing force-control sensors will trigger the air gestures on the upcoming Airpods Pro.
Airpods Pro 2 will automatically modify the earbuds’ configuration based on the gestures’ inputs. There have been multiple rumors that this feature could in other upcoming Apple products, including Apple Glass.
Airpods Pro 2 Release Date
We have multiple speculations about the release date of the upcoming Airpods Pro 2. DigiTimes recently reported that the second-gen AirPods Pro could hit the markets in the second half of 2020. However, a reputable Apple expert whose predictions have always been reliable says otherwise.
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the next-generation AirPods Pro will not arrive until 2022. She mentioned that the product will go in mass production in the second half of 2021, and will arrive in the market by 2022.
But, before the AirPods Pro 2, the third-generation of flagship Apple Airpods will release on the market. There has been confirmation from multiple leakers that the Airpods 3 will release in early 2021. The third-gen Airpods will most probably feature the configuration similar to Airpods Pro.
