Can you believe it’s already been a year since that fresh, dramatic re-imagining of the Bel-Air story debuted? Ever since Peacock dropped season one back in early 2022, fans like me have been hooked on their unique take – vividly showing Will’s journey from West Philly to posh Bel-Air from a completely modern lens.
I’ll admit, as a 90s kid who grew up on the light-hearted original, seeing Bel-Air tackled in a more serious way took some getting used to initially. But Jabari Banks just immediately personified Will Smith’s charm and swagger for a new generation. And the family dynamics and socioeconomic issues explored felt really relevant and compelling.
So when the season one finale dropped last March – which saw Will arrested after that tense family blowup – everyone was left freaking out wondering: is this the end?! Thankfully our worries were put to rest quickly when Peacock renewed the hit show only a month later in April. Phew!
Bel Air Season 3 Release Date
But since then, details have been sparse about what exactly Bel-Air Season 3 will entail. Like will Will stay in Bel-Air or go down a darker path? Are him and Carlton good now or will that beef continue? And what about the Banks family business drama hinted at the end there?
Luckily some tidbits are just starting to trickle out now from showrunner Carla Banks-Waddles about what’s coming up next, with the sophomore season set to debut on February 24. It sounds like time jumps forward a few months, with Will now facing legal charges while trying to rebuild broken family trust after that altercation with Carlton.
Banks-Waddles said the theme is “once a family, always a family” – so while the road back won’t be easy, Will and Carlton will aim to find common ground again. And we’ll see Will continuing to learn what it means to carry the weight and responsibility of the Banks name in Bel-Air.

Is Bel-Air going to have a season 3?
There also may be more revelations about the secret shady side of the Banks empire that was hinted at last season. So I’d expect plenty of family turmoil drama again balanced with light and laughter too. Maybe even some more Will-Carlton hijinks!
With most key players slated to return, I’ve got high hopes that Bel-Air’s second run can keep that compelling balance alive – telling an emotive coming of age story while examining social issues as well. Even though only 8 more episodes are ordered this round, that’s plenty more time to dive deeper before potentially wrapping the Banks’ family journey.
I know I’ll definitely be locked in again come February 24 when Bel-Air season 3 premieres on Peacock! We’ve still got a few months to go for more details to hopefully trickle out from the set. But I’m just thrilled we only have to wait until 2023 to see the next phase of this reimagined story play out. Let’s see what’s in store next for Will and the family!
Where can I watch Bel Air Season 3?
Can you believe we’re less than two weeks away now from the release of Bel-Air Season 3? Ever since that dramatic season one finale dropped last March, I’ve been desperately counting down the days to see what happens next. And now on 2024, we’ll finally get some answers!
Like any fan who grew up admiring Will Smith’s infectious, wise-cracking charm in the 90s sitcom, this updated take was jarring at first when it premiered last year. Seeing a new actor, Jabari Banks, take on the role in such a stark, serious tone was unexpected. But he immediately personified Will’s charisma and internal struggle in this reimagined coming-of-age story.
Those themes clearly resonated too based on Bel-Air’s huge success, as it drew in over 10 million viewers by finale time! So thankfully when Peacock ordered an abbreviated Season 3 last April, they confirmed Jabari would be back leading the charge into the next chapter. Phew, big win there as he’s been fantastic in the role!
What is Bel-Air famous for?
Still so many pressing questions lingered after that emotionally-charged first season though. Like how does Will move forward after that ugly confrontation with Carlton that led to his arrest? Can the family peace be restored after all those bombs dropped? And what new challenges await now that Will faces daunting legal troubles?
Well showrunner Carla Banks-Waddles has started teasing a few hints about what’s on tap for Season 3 as the February 23rd premiere draws closer. And it sounds like the show will pick up several months later with Will at a real crossroads moment in his life. While the Banks family aims to reconcile, Will must also battle the court charges against him while contemplating who he wants to be.
We’ll see Jabari digging deep again to portray Will’s grit and charisma amidst the uncertainty. And while only 8 episodes are slated this round, Banks-Waddles confirmed the theme will focus on “once family, always family.” So I’m hopeful Will and Carlton can find common ground!
Best of all, it’s been confirmed Bel-Air Season 3 will stream exclusively via Peacock! So we won’t have to navigate finding a new platform or network to watch our favorite LA family’s next chapter unfold. Just log onto Peacock on 2024.
Was Bel-Air Cancelled?
With the huge success of that first gripping season of Bel-Air last year, I know many fans, including me, were worried the show might not come back for more. But thankfully our concerns about cancellation were put to rest!
Shortly after the dramatic season one finale aired, Peacock stepped up in April 2022 to officially renew Bel-Air for a second round. Now season two is premiering later this month, with Jabari Banks and the stellar cast reprising their roles as Will, the Banks family, and friends.
Beyond season two, details get more hazy regarding the show’s future. I haven’t seen an official cancellation yet, but also no word on a season three pickup. My guess is the viewership and buzz for the upcoming episodes will play a big role.
The show creator has hinted at a 5-6 season plan, so fingers crossed ratings and reviews impress so we get more of the Banks’ reimagined journey! For now, let’s just appreciate that talks of cancellation were squashed quickly last spring, paving the way for the early 2024 return to Peacock. Eight new episodes await that dive deeper into themes of family, class, and reputation – I know I’ll be glued to the screen!
