Harry Potter Actor Robbie Coltrane dies at the age of 72

Robbie Coltrane was a famous Scottish actor. Robbie Coltrane played the half-giant character Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies. Moreover, he passed away on October 14 at the age of 72, according to his agent. 

Coltrane’s more than four-decade acting career included parts in the James Bond movies GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough and the lead character of criminal psychologist Dr Edward Fitz Fitzgerald in the British TV series Cracker from the 1990s.

Statement by Daniel Radcliffe

In a statement, Daniel Radcliffe referred to Coltrane as one of the funniest individuals. Daniel Radcliffe was 33 years old. Also, Daniel plays Harry Potter. 

The actor said he kept everyone’s spirits high by sharing stories and making jokes. Further, in the 2004 movie Prisoner of Azkaban, the cast and crew were holed up in Hagrid’s hut for hours in the pouring rain.

The central location of the first Harry Potter books is Hogwarts. Over there, Rubeus Hagrid serves as Keeper of the Keys and Grounds. Belinda Wright, Coltrane’s representative, described the musician as having a particular skill.

She added that he was not just a fantastic actor. But also forensically bright, brilliantly humorous, and after 40 years of being pleased to be called his agent, we shall miss him.

Robbie Coltrane Biography

Anthony Robert McMillan was born in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire. He was born on March 30, 1950. Further, he changed his name professionally in honour of the legendary jazz musician John Coltrane.

He played several television parts. Thus it includes recurring roles in an anthology series, The Comic Strip Presents. He was a talented comic actor and a star of Britain’s alternative comedy in the 1980s. 

Further, he gained notoriety in 1987. Thus it is when he co-starred with Emma Thompson in John Byrne’s miniseries Tutti Frutti. Also, in that movie, he played the tragic lead singer, Big Jazza McGlone, of the fictitious Scots rock and roll band The Majestics.

In the 1990s, he demonstrated that he could play severe roles in Cracker’s crime drama. According to Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, it was her favourite of his roles.

Stephen Fry was a fellow breakout star of the alternative comedy boom and a British actor and broadcaster. Hence Stephen stated that he had met Coltrane almost 40 years prior, “he simultaneously experienced amazement, dread, and love. We developed our first TV show, Alfresco, with such depth, power, and talent that it made people burp and honk helplessly. Goodbye, older man. We’ll sorely miss you.”

Britain’s PA Media stated that Coltrane passed away in a hospital close to Falkirk in Scotland. According to his agent Wright, he is survived by his sister Annie Rae, his children, Spencer and Alice, and their mother, Rhona Gemmell.
