Joe Sugg, a well-known face on YouTube in the UK, is starting a production company with support from BBC Studios. The company will create formats for both entertainment and factual entertainment.
A contract has already been reached between Final Straw Productions and the BBC’s commercial arm—which has previously collaborated with Sugg—to develop, produce, and distribute programming for audiences of all ages. According to the agreement, Sacha Grimsditch, who now oversees BBC Studios’ Celebrity Big Painting Challenge and Top Gear, will work with Sugg and become the company’s development executive. Grimsditch will assist Sugg in setting up the business.
Margravine Talent Agency, which Sugg already owns, represents performers.
A huge presence on Instagram and TikTok, he is a British YouTube sensation with 7.5 million followers. His second-place finish in the BBC One entertainment format Strictly Come Dancing, which draws millions of viewers each week, helped him break into the public eye in 2018. Additionally, she has written a series of graphic novels, and most recently, she tried her hand at acting by making an appearance on BBC One Syndicate from the Mailbox.
Helen O’Donnell, the director of BBC Studios TalentWorks, referred to her as “a prolific producer who entertains and thrills people across a range of media.”
Sug said: “My head has always been full of ideas, so to be able to grab the opportunity to establish a wonderful team that can help bring these ideas to life with the assistance of BBC Studios and its advice and expertise Is.”
