Thor: Love and Thunder: Highlights
Per Brandon Matthews, Thor: Love and Thunder’s first teaser was almost complete back in mid-January. Given that some time has passed since then, it’s possible that the film’s trailer could be on the way soon.
May we see it during this year’s Super Bowl? Probably not, what with Marvel reportedly airing new TV spots for Moon Knight and Doctor Strange 2. Still, hopefully it won’t be long before we see some footage.
Thor: Love and Thunder: Release Date
Thor: Love and Thunder is currently set to be released on July 8, 2022. It was originally due out on November 5, 2021 but, like so many theatrical releases, it was pushed back by the ongoing pandemic. It was subsequently pencilled in for May 2022 but, after Marvel Studios confirmed that it was delaying all of its upcoming films, its release date was moved again.
It’ll also debut exclusively in theaters before it arrives on Disney Plus. Given that Shang-Chi and Eternals didn’t land on the streaming platform for 55 days after their initial launch, however, it’ll be a while before Thor 4 is viewable in the comfort of your own home.
Thor: Love and Thunder Story: What’s it About?
Little is know about the film’s plot. Given the secrecy that surrounds Marvel films these days, that won’t come as a surprise to anyone. However, we don’t have an official synopsis yet, either, so we can’t even speak about what that teases. What we can speculate on, though, is how it fits into the MCU’s increasingly convoluted timeline.
Exploring the comics to gain an insight into what Thor: Love and Thunder’s plot may be about, we know it’s been inspired by the Mighty Thor comics, which were penned by writer Jason Aaron. In that series run, Thor loses the ability to lift Mjolnir, and Jane Foster assumes his mantle while simultaneously battling cancer in her human form.

As has been teased before, Valkyrie is set for an intense journey in Thor: Love and Thunder after Thor anointed her as King in Avengers; Endgame. Teaming up with Hemsworth and Waititi again is sure to bring another insane round of antics and hilarity, although her time as Asgard’s ruler is sure to bring plenty of character development as well.
