I Know What You Did Last Summer is an American slasher film released in 1997, directed by Kevin Williamson, produced by Neal H. The plot of I Know What You Did Last Summer

On July 4, 1996, Julie James and her friends Ray Bronson, Helen shivers, and Barry cox drive to the beach in Southport, North Carolina. While driving along the coast, they accidentally hit a pedestrian. A friend of Julie named Max had a sudden meet with them and asked if they were okay. Julie reassures them about their wellbeing and Max leaves thereafter. The group decides to dump the body in the water and never discusses that again.

A year later in 1997, Julie returns home for the summer vacation from college. Their group had gone their separate ways now. One day Julie receives a letter from an unknown sender with no address, stating “I know what you did last summer”. Julie was confused and scared after receiving the letter and started tracking Helen and they both looked for Barry who suspected Max to be the one who has sent the letter. They confront max and Barry threatens him to confess if he was the one behind this letter. Julie next meets ray who is now a fisherman. Later max is killed by an unknown figure with a raincoat with a hook. Barry then finds a letter in his gym locker saying, “I know”.

After this incident, Julie looks for newspaper articles that find out about that pedestrian, who was found to be a man named David Egan. He has a sister named Missy. Helen and berry went to look for his sister, missy explains how their family was devastated after the death of David, and a friend of his named Billy visited her to pay his respects. That night the killer went into Helen’s house and cut off her hair while she was in sleep and writes “soon” in lipstick on her mirror.

The next morning Julie finds max’s corpse wearing Barry’s stolen jacket. she immediately called others but when they arrived the body and the carbs were missing. Julie, Helen, and Barry narrated the situation to ray. Ray who was told about the recent events said that he has also received a threatening letter. Missy reveals that David has committed suicide in Infront of a car because of the guilt of his girlfriend, Susie Willis, and shows them the suicide note. Julie matches both the writing and it matches which shows that was a death threat and not a suicide note.

Soon after that Barry was murdered on his balcony, Helen visited with the police but had no sign of the murderer. Helen went to the stores with her sister Elsa, but the killer killed Elsa and was chasing Helen. Although she could escape from the windows and fell to an alleyway and ran towards the street in the hope to survive and ask for help. The killer somehow stops and her and slashes her to death, her death screams were unheard by the ongoing parade.

Julie finds an article that reveals ben Willis to be Sussi’s father and realizes ben was the man they were running after. She goes to ray to say about this, but he does not believe her. Soon after Julie notices ray’s boat is called Billy Blue and flees a fisherman appears and knocks on Ray and invited Julie to hide on his boat. On the boat, she finds photos of her and her friends and believes what Julie said. Ray gets a motorboat to help Julie get out of the situation.

A year later in 1998, Julie is in her college in Boston where she notices the words “I still know” written in the steam of her hot shower door. Soon a dark figure comes, and Julie starts screaming.
