About Tensura
TenSura or Slime Isekai is a very popular Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Fuse, and illustrated by Mitz Vah. Seventeen volumes have been released as of March 2021. The light novel has been licensed in North America by Yen Press, which published the first volume in December 2017. An anime film will be released in 2022.
The series follows the story of Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-antique company employee in Tokyo. He gets stabbed and murdered. When Satoru regains focus, he realizes that he has been reborn as a Slime in a world of sword and sorcery.
He comes back to Veldora Tempest, a Catastrophe-level ‘Storm Dragon’ who has been imprisoned for about 300 years for destroying a village and killing people. Satoru becomes friends with the dragon, offering to assist him in shattering the seal. Veldora bestows the name Rimuru Tempest on him in a way as a return for heavenly protection. It remains to be seen what twists and turns take place as the story progresses.
