The story of All Creatures Great and Small Season 2 Episode 3 takes place in the historic country of Yorkshire, England. It follows the adventures of three veterinary surgeons – James Herriot, Siegfried Farnon, and his younger brother Tristan Farnon, working in the Yorkshire Dales. Siegfried Farnon hires James Herriot in his veterinary practice in Skeldale House.

Mrs. Audrey Hall is the housekeeper of Skeldale House. Mrs. Hall’s friend Dorothy is Siegfried’s love interest. Another important character is Helen Alderson, a farmer’s daughter, and James Herriot’s love interest. James competes with Hugh Hulton, a wealthy landowner, for Helen’s affection.

The series is based on the semi-autobiographical writings of James Alfred Wiget, better known by his pen name James Herriot. Alfred Wiget was also a veterinary surgeon in Yorkshire, where he practiced for almost 50 years.
