Two brothers and rivals, one a villain, or “heel,” in professional wrestling, and the other a hero, or “face,” in small-town Georgia, compete in scripted matches over their late father’s wrestling promotion and for national fame.

Heels follow the Spade family as they adjust to life after their dad, Tom, died tragically. Jack is the golden child who opted to walk in his father’s footsteps. Now he operates the Duffy Wrestling League (DWL) which is the family’s struggling wrestling business and always tries to be there for his little kid and loving wife.

Ace is a bit more of a gambler’s card. The youngest Spade apparently considered pursuing a career as a professional football player rather than continuing in the family business. He’s not thrilled about the fact that he’s still stuck in Duffy, and he has a lot of problems with his brother.

In and out of the ring, the Spade family and those closest to them confront numerous hardships. Smalltown Georgia virtually becomes a character in and of itself, as those who stay in Duffy grapple with their limits, whether they love or hate the town. Many of the answers are there in front of the Spade boys’ eyes. But are they man enough to accept answers that may go against their small town’s conventional methods?
