Shinichi Kudo, also known as the “Detective Of The East,” is a famous high school detective who was shrunken by APTX 4869 and now goes by the alias Conan Edogawa. He is Ran Mouri’s childhood friend and romantic interest, as well as the main protagonist of the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan.
The Plot
Shinichi Kudo, a great mystery expert at the age of seventeen, is already well known for solving several difficult cases. Shinichi inadvertently witnesses a disturbing illegal activity when he sees two suspicious men and decides to follow them one day. When the men apprehend Shinichi, they administer an Experimental Drug developed by the Black Organization and abandon him to die. Shinichi, to his surprise, is still alive and soon wakes up, but he now has the body of a seven-year-old, perfectly preserving his original intelligence.
Everyone, including his childhood friend Ran Mouri and her father, private detective Kogoro Mouri, is unaware of his true identity. He eventually adopts the pen name Conan Edogawa, after the mystery writers Arthur Conan Doyle and Ranpo Edogawa. Shinichi, like Conan, begins secretly solving Detective Mouri’s cases from behind the scenes with his exceptional sleuthing skills, while covertly investigating the organization responsible for his current state, hoping to reverse the drug’s effects someday.

Shinichi Kudo is the son of Yusaku Kudo, a well-known mystery novelist, and Yukiko Kudo, a well-known actress. He had a great interest in Sherlock Holmes and read many Mystery novels as a child in his house, which had a huge library with dozens of shelves filled with Mystery novels from all over the world, which inspired him to become a Detective. When he first met Ran Mouri in Kindergarten, he had her give him a Sakura Badge made by her so she wouldn’t be bullied by the kids. When Ran realizes this, she befriends Shinichi, and the two have remained close ever since.
