NUT announced that the second season of popular action anime series, The Saga of Tanya the Evil on June 19, 2021. The main cast and the staff from the first season, as well as the movie, will return for the second season. The Saga of Tanya the Evil is originally a light novel series that is written by Carlo Zen. Later, Comp Ace magazine adapted the light novel series into manga with an art by Chika Tōjō.
The Tokyo-based animation studio adapted the light novel series into an anime TV series in 2017. Crunchyroll and Funimation licensed the anime TV series for streaming rights in Europe and North America. The first season started airing on AT-X starting from January and concluded with after 12 episodes in March 2017. In 2018, the studio announced a sequel film where principal cast and staff returned.
The upcoming second season will continue the story of Tanya Degurechaff. ABEMA, a popular streaming channel in Japan, conducted a special event, where they announced the confirmed news about second season of Youjo Senki. During the event, the company also broadcasted the all 12 episodes of the first season and subsequent sequel film. Aoi Yuuki, who voices the main character Tanya Degurechaff, also attended the event.
The Saga of Tanya The Evil Season 2 Release Date
A special OVA episode of the anime series premiered during the special presentation event. The voice actors discussed the anime and experience while working on it. While, the news about the second season is true, there isn’t any confirmed release date for the upcoming season. The report suggests that the studio has already started working on the second season are aiming for winter 2021 release.
However, another report suggest that the anime will not premiere until 2022. The director revealed that the second season was possible due to fans support. He even thanked the fans and everyone involved with the anime TV series and the sequel movie. The director assured that he would put his heart and soul in making an interesting second season. In the upcoming season, Tanya will continue her exploits as the leader of 8th Kampfgruppe.
