Fantastic Beasts Star Kevin Guthrie Sentenced jail for Sexual Harassment

Actor Kevin Guthrie who portrayed Abernathy in Fantastic Beasts franchise has sentenced jail for 2017 sexual harassment allegations. The Scottish actor will now be under arrest for 3 years. Check out the whole story here.

Who is Kevin Guthrie and What He Did

33 years old Kevin Guthrie is mostly known for his roles in Sunshine on Leith, Sunset Song and lead on Peter Pan theater version. Kevin was convicted for sexual assault in March 2021, for an incident that happened in 2017. He allegedly harassed a 29-year-old woman in Glasgow, Scotland.  According to BBC Kevin was at the actor Scott Ried’s apartment, where the incident took place.

However Scott Ried has not been charged. The woman was supposed to meet the 2 actor at a bar but she fell ill, her driver asked them to pick her up. Reid and Guthrie did pick her up and took her to their apartment and put her in a bed.

After that, Ried went to contact health emergency, and this is when Guthrie took the chance to assault her. According to the woman, Kevin allegedly tried to seduce her and started to take her clothes off. He began to assault her and stopped after realizing Ried has entered the room.

Jury’s Sentence

After all these incidents, the Glasgow Sheriff Court, took Guthrie for four-day trial and sentenced the actor 3 years of jail. The evidence including medical receipts, photographs, DNA reports, scientific evidence and situational analysis of the apartment supported the allegations against Guthrie.

The jury listed the actor in the sex offender’s registry afterwards. Initially Kevin denied all the facts and told that he was only ‘helping’ her. The judge for the trial and sheriff Tom Hughes sentenced Guthrie to jail. According to Tom Hughes that despite of being the position of trust, he did that crime at that situation. The woman fell ill, and both of them decided to help her. It was unexpected what Guthrie did.

When Scott Ried went to seek help for Scotland’s medical services, the woman was under surveillance of Guthrie. He took chance to commit the crime, which makes the women victim in distress. By the images of the apartments and DNA reports, the judge took the decision in favor of the woman and sentenced Guthrie to 3 years of jail.
