Something in the Water, B: An Interview with Tory Lanez

Tory Lanez has been a popular name in hip-hop and alternative R&B ever since he exploded into the industry back in 2009. The singer, songwriter, and producer released his debut mixtape T.L 2 T.O. in 2009 and received global recognition in the rap game following the release of his 2013’s mixtape, Conflicts of My Soul: The 416 Story.

Luv hit-maker’s real name is Daystar Peterson and was dubbed “Tory” for his ambition to put his name alongside the name of rap legend, the Notorious B.I.G. Meanwhile, his friend Hakeem dubbed his nickname “Lanez” referencing the fact that he loved seeking thrills and running through the streets.

Lanez, as of today, has around 18 million monthly Spotify listeners and claims that he wouldn’t rest until he reaches the top. When asked several talents (including him) have been hailed from Canada, he responded that it might just be something in the water.
