It based on a true story where we show how Soviet Union suffers from the worst nuclear attack in 1986. The show is directed by Johan Renck. After the very successful first season the show makers confirms that there will no season 2.

What are the reasons why season 2 not come?

The writer and creator of the show Craig Mazin confirm that season 2 not come in future. But there are no proper reasons he says regarding this. He just says A second season seemed very unlikely anyway as the miniseries was imagined as a close-ended, limited series. He also says, it’s a one-time television show and it always intended to be a limited time series.

Any possibility of season 2 in the future?

So, to be honest the creator says there will be no season 2 now. But he didn’t against it. And says in future may the next season come. In an interview he says, “If I came to HBO and said ‘I want to do another season of Chernobyl, except it’s gonna be about another terrible tragedy,’ whether it’s Bhopal or Fukushima or something like that, I would imagine they at least would give me polite interest,”. So let’s wait and watch what happens in future.
