OnePlus is planning to expand into the market of wearables as well. CEO Pete Lau has already confirmed that OnePlus Watch will be arriving in 2021, but before that, the company is planning to launch a cheap alternative, a fitness tracker. Now, a new leak has revealed the price and release date of the company’s fitness tracker, called OnePlus Band. Android Central also reported that OnePlus is planning to release the Band first in India.
The fitness tracker will serve as the cheap alternative to the upcoming OnePlus Watch. Android Central was the first to report regarding the release of OnePlus Band. According to the website, the manufacturer will release the fitness tracker along with the next OnePlus’s flagship phone, OnePlus 9. Multiple reports suggest that the next flagship phone will release in mid-March this year.
The fitness tracker from OnePlus would be affordable, which will cost around US$ 40. There was another report claiming that the OnePlus band will release in the first quarter of 2021. Since OnePlus 9 is releasing in March this year, we could get our hands on the fitness wearable during the same time frame. However, these are just rumours and leaks, OnePlus hasn’t officially confirmed yet.
OnePlus Band Features
The general features of the fitness tracker would be similar to the other tracker available at the market. If OnePlus Band’s price tag will be US$ 40, then it will share the market and compete with Xiaomi’s Mi Band series and Amazfit Band 5. Also, other wearable fitness trackers, which are doing well in the market cost around US$ 70 to 90. This would further make the OnePlus Band cheaper and affordable.
Most of the devices developed by OnePlus have enriched battery life. So, we can expect that the OnePlus Band will also feature longer battery life than any other fitness tracker in the market. The other potential features include water-resistant and an AMOLED screen. Since OnePlus Band will be cheaper and affordable one, one shouldn’t expect high-end fitness features.
