Good news for the Spiderman fan club! There’s a spider-verse sequel in the making !! the love that Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse received, was huge and had a gigantic fan base of its own. There’s no surprise that we are getting a follow-up.
The movie has won many awards, best-animated feature at the Oscars and the Golden Globes. A sequel to it just seems inevitable. The work is in progress. It was originally set to be released on 8th April 2022. But many movies are in line because of the delay. So the official release date for the movie was pushed up to 7th October 2022. The wait may be long but it is worth it.
The movie is being directed by Joaquim Dos from a screenplay by David Callaham. The sequel features Shameik Moore as Miles and Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Gwen. The shaping of the sequel began long back in 2018. It was set to focus on their growing relationship. The animation work began in June 2020.
WHAT WILL IT BE ABOUT?
The producer, Amy Pascal recently confirmed that the sequel will be picked up from where it was left in the first movie. Focusing on young love between Miles and the animated superhero version of Gwen Stacy, as they set foot together to explore their romantic relationship. Moreover, the movie happens to end with the revelation that, while Mile’s new friends have now returned to their own realities, there still might be a way for them to travel. The reality-warping effect from the movie appears above his head, along with Gwen’s voice.
The sequel will also serve as a beginning for Spider-Gwen’s own spinoff movie. In which, we will see Gwen teaming up with more spider-themed female characters. Moreover, there are many spider-verse shows in working as well.
The teaser video that revealed the sequel in the making, featured flickering logos of all different iterations of Spiderman. It kind of gives a clue that many new characters will be added going further. Peter Ramsey, in an interview with Variety also confirmed that there will be a time jump in the movie.
