Ted Lasso Season 4 Plot, Cast, Trailer, Rumors and All We Know So Far

The fans of Ted Lasso are still getting over the emotional finale of the third season, which seemed to bring an end to the splash-hit Apple TV+ comedy show. Ted Lasso had an incredible response in its three seasons, with the latest one showing Richmond struggling to get ahead in the Premier League. So, will there be a Ted Lasso season 4?

Starring Saturday Night Live alumnus Jason Sudeikis in the titular role. The series follows a hapless American football coach as he attempts to turn around a struggling English soccer team. Immediately praised for its quirky humor and likable characters, Ted Lasso was the surprise hit of 2020 and continues to win over audiences and win Emmy Awards by the score with each season.

Jason Sudeikis has been very open about the fact that he planned a three-season arc for the characters. In an interview, Sudeikis said, ”This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell.”

Ted Lasso’s future after season 3, Ted Lasso season 4, or spin-offs?

The Future of the Comedy series was always in question, and many of the show’s creative team envisioned it as a three-season story. However, the possibility of Ted Lasso season 4 cannot be ruled out. The overwhelming response to the story could keep it going far beyond the originally intended three-season journey.

A recent post on Ted Lasso’s Twitter account seemed to signal an end to the show. ”A few years ago I hopped on a plane with Coach Beard headin’ to a little town in London,” the fictional character’s account wrote on Twitter on Tuesday 30th May. ”Tonight we play our final match.”

Though the fan-favorite comedy series, Ted Lasso is coming to an end but will we still be able to watch our beloved characters? Well, there is a probability of that! Ted Lasso’s creators are open to the idea of making spin-offs centered around the other cast members.

When Sudeikis was asked about the possibility of spinoffs, he had plenty of ideas, including one for co-stars and pals Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple as a ”crime-fighting duo”. ”I think that’s one of the nearest things about the show, at least for me,” he shared. ”To watch over and over these performances by these amazing actors, this great cast. I really enjoy watching every single of them and it’s so fun on the writing side just to pair up anybody.”

Ted Lasso season 4 release date

As the series has yet to be officially renewed for a fourth season, it’s difficult to say when it would arrive on Apple TV+. However, we can use previous seasons’ release dates to suggest when new episodes could arrive. Season 1 was released in the summer of 2020 and season 2 arrived the following year in 2021. Thereafter, the gap between seasons 2 and 3 was longer, as the third season arrived in March 2023.

As there is no official confirmation surrounding the series’ future, we’d imagine that a longer break is more likely than a quick come-back. However, as with an actual confirmation of Ted Lasso season 4, a release date for the season is just as elusive.

Ted Lasso season 4 plot

After the third season of the popular Apple TV+ show wrapped up to complete almost every character’s individual arc, the ending of the finale had some elements that hinted at the possibility of another season. The ending scene of Ted coaching Henry’s soccer team back in Kansas could be the basis of Ted Lasso season 4. However, it could also risk tarnishing the conclusion of the titular character.

While they missed out on the Premier League title, the team qualified for European football via the Champions League, one of football’s most prestigious tournaments. This competition was mentioned multiple times in Ted Lasso season 3, episode 12, meaning a Ted Lasso season 4 centered on Roy, Nate, and Beard leading Richmond to European glory could well be a possibility.

Well, continuing the show with Ted Lasso, season 4 without the main character, Ted Lasso himself, could be a mistake. However, the finale of season 3 made it clear that Richmond can carry the weight of the story without Ted. Even Ted points out that the story is not about him, attributing Richmond’s success to other players.

As such, the Trent Crimm-written book “The Richmond Way” would be more than welcome as a basis for Ted Lasso season 4, which still has room for Sudeikis’ return without being a main cast member.

Conclusion

Ted Lasso was a balm for the soul when it launched on Apple TV in 2020. The world learned to ”believe”, and it became the streaming platform’s biggest hit, garnering critical acclaim and winning 11 Emmys over the course of its run. We hope to watch the characters again, either in another season or in spinoffs. As we get any information, we will update you. Till then, keep visiting our website standfordartsreview.com.
