Cardi B faces legal actions on recreating Marge Simpson artwork in a Halloween

Cardi B is sued for using Marge Simpson’s art in a Halloween video. Moreover, an artist said she stole his work without permission. Cardi B dressed up as Marge Simpson in Thierry Mugler for Halloween. Here are the inside deets from Cardi B’s recent controversy.

The American rapper shared a slideshow of pictures with her 143 million Instagram followers on October 31. Furthermore, one of the pictures was of her dressed as Marge in a racy Thierry Mugler dress. Moreover, another photo was of the painting that inspired the look. The photographer Jora Frantzis and Cardi B’s stylist Kollin Carter shared the same slideshow.

What did the officials say?

Claudio Volpi is a lawyer specialising in intellectual property law. Moreocver, the artist, hired him for the case. He has promised to take legal action against Cardi B on the artist’s behalf. “Cardi B has taken aleXsandro Palombo’s work without permission for business purposes. This led to violation of the most basic rules of copyright and Instagram policies. Moreover, this will put her at serious risk of being sued and hurting her public image,” he said in a statement.

Only Frantzis replied, saying that she had not known there was an artist behind the image before but that she would be “happy to add the credits.”

The artist asked everyone involved to make a “remedial” post that gave him credit and linked to his Instagram page. Moreover, it looks like there was no response to this last message.

Even though no lawsuit has been filed yet, Volpi has sent a formal notice to the same people and Craig Kallman, asking them to publish the follow-up post and correct the previous post within seven days of receiving the notice. If they don’t do what he wants, he has threatened to take them to court and ask for money for aleXsandro Palombo.

What is the controversy created by Cardi B?

Cardi B is one of the modern people who have been given credit for bringing back the radical fashion Mugler made in the 1980s and 1990s. Moreover, she got a lot of attention when she wore Botticelli’s A/W 1995 collection dress to the 2019 Grammy Awards that looked like the Birth of Venus.

In 2021, she wore a fancy red dress to the opening of the exhibition “Thierry Mugler, Couturissime” at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Moreover, the exhibition was a look back at the designer’s career. Claudio Volpi told Artnet News that Cardi B broke “the most basic copyright rules.

Moreover, Volpi also told Artnet that Palombo reached out to Cardi B and two of her team members after posting the photo on their social media accounts. He asked them to fix the mistake and add a link to his Instagram page. Furthermore, Artnet News tried getting Cardi B’s representatives to comment on the claims but did not hear back immediately.
