Sony has been teasing its upcoming virtual reality headset for a few months, but now we know when it will come out. On February 22, 2023, the PlayStation VR2 will come out. The PlayStation VR2 retail package will cost $549.99 (about Rs 45,502).

When will PlayStation VR2  be available for Pre-Order?

Pre-orders for the PlayStation VR2 will start on November 15 in the US, UK, France, and Germany. Users can make purchases through Sony’s PlayStation online store. Horizon Call of the Mountain is an upcoming VR game. Moreover, it will also be available for pre-order by the end of this month.

The PS VR2 will come with the game and can be bought for $599.99. (around Rs 49,639).
The PlayStation VR2 headset can only be used with the PlayStation 5. So, to use a VR headset, you will need to have a PS5 console already or buy one.

A PlayStation 5 console in the US starts at $499. (Rs 39,990). The second-generation PlayStation VR headset is much better than the first. For example, it has an OLED display with a 110-degree field view and can play 4K HDR videos.

What are the improvements in this upcoming headset? 

The second-generation PlayStation VR headset has a lot of improvements over the first. For example, it has an OLED screen with a 110-degree field of view, 4K HDR playback, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Four cameras are built into the front, which lets you see through it, make your play area, and do other things. The new orb-shaped controllers also have adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, like the DualSense. Moreover, they can sense when your finger touches them.

“We made the PS VR2 headset with comfort in mind. Compared to previous headset, it is a little bit thinner and lighter. We also added a built-in vent to let in more air and a dial to adjust the lens for a more personalised feel. We hope that players will like the new look.” Isabelle Tomatis, who works for Sony Interactive Entertainment as VP of the brand, hardware, and peripherals, says the following.

Sony has also announced 11 new games for the PS VR2, including the much-talked-about Horizon: Call of the Mountain. Moreover, it will also include The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR, Cities VR – Enhanced Edition, Crossfire: Sierra Squad, and more. After the PS VR 2 comes out in February 2023, these games will be able to be played on it.
