Laura Whitmore Steps down as the Host Of Love Island

After two and a half years on “Love Island,” host Laura Whitmore has decided to leave the U.K. reality show. Former host, Caroline Flack’s close pal Whitmore notably took over the show in January 2020.

Just after Flack’s arrest for domestic assault in December 2019 and two months before Flack’s untimely suicide. Whitmore has hosted three seasons of “Love Island,” beginning with the winter season in 2020 (before the pandemic) and continuing through the summers of 2021 and 2022.

Her phenomenal performances throughout her career

However, viewers have noticed that the host has been absent from many episodes in recent years, as the cast has increasingly worked without them. For the most part, Whitmore has only been seen on the “Aftersun” after-show. Besides her role on “Love Island,” Whitmore is a radio broadcaster and a host on “Celebrity Juice.” And the author of a new book, “No One Can Change Your Life Except for You.” This year, she will debut on the West End in the play “2:22 A Ghost Story.”

What about the Upcoming Seasons of Love Island?

ITV announced earlier this year that they would be airing two seasons of “Love Island” in 2023. With one taking place in South Africa during the winter and the other in the typical “Love Island” setting of Mallorca during the summer.

Presenters have to fly to and from the show’s filming venue weekly to film the in-studio “Aftersun” specials, adding the extra travel time to an already demanding daily schedule that lasts two months.

ITV statement after Whitmore’s Departure

In response to Whitmore’s departure, ITV released a statement praising their former presenter for her work in the show’s last three seasons. We appreciate her contributions to the show but fully accept her decision, and we look forward to collaborating with her on future ITV projects.

What did Whitemore have to say about her leaving?

The Irish model and TV host announced the good news on her official Instagram account on Monday night local time, writing, “Some news!” The following season of Love Island will not have me as its host.

Reason for Whitmore Leaving as host of the show?

The show’s framework makes it impossible to alter some of the things I’ve found challenging. This includes the frequent trips to South Africa and my new competing projects. Though I wish it were feasible, rest assured that you’ll be in good hands. Initially, I was supposed to step in for Caroline for a single season, but that quickly expanded to cover three full seasons. I appreciate you letting me be a part of this, Caroline, and I do hope I did.
