Actor Gary Busey charged with Sexual Offense

In a statement released Saturday, police claimed that actor Gary Busey had been charged with sexual offenses. The offense is related to occurrences that occurred at the Monster Mania Convention in New Jersey. Cherry Hill police said they have charges against Busey, 78, for two counts of criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted unlawful sexual contact, and one case of harassment. 

When Did the Event Occur?

The event occurred at the Doubletree Hotel from August 12 to August 14, and on August 13, police were summoned “for the report of a sex offense,” according to a Facebook statement.

Why Was Busey at the Event?

According to The Associated Press, Busey was set to appear as a special guest all three days of the convention. In a blog post, Monster-Mania stated it was helping law enforcement with their probe.

What were the Results of the Investigation?

Busey was arrested and charged last Friday after police conducted their investigation. The news could not quickly reach his representatives for comment on the charges. And it is unclear whether he has a council. There will be a convention dedicated to horror movies and collectibles at the Monster Mania Convention. 

The tweet said that the guest celebrity was “Immediately removed from the conference and ordered not to return” after a complaint was received from participants.

Following an investigation, police in Malibu, California, arrested and charged Gary Busey, 78, with two counts of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree, one case of criminal attempt/illegal sexual contact, and one count of harassment.

This reporter has requested a reaction from Busey’s reps. It was initially unclear whether or not counsel represented Busey. On Saturday night, Cherry Hill Police Chief Robert Kempf revealed to a TV channel that Busey, a guest at the event, was involved in the altercation. Busey received an Oscar for his performance as Buddy Holly in the 1978 film “The Buddy Holly Story.”

The legal team representing Monster Mania said in a statement Saturday night, “Our client, Monster-Mania LLC, is working with police regarding an alleged altercation between a celebrity guest and convention goers last weekend in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

The celebrity guest was asked to leave the convention immediately after receiving the complaint. Monster-Mania additionally suggested that the audience members call the police and make a report.
