After his mother was formally declared dead following a tragic vehicle accident, actor Anne Heche‘s eldest son issued a tearful statement.

Homer Laffoon, 20, wrote in a message to People magazine and NBC News, “My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom.” “I am left with deep, unutterable grief after six days of absolutely unimaginable emotional ups and downs. I hope my mum is no longer in pain and starting to experience what I like to think of as her eternal freedom.

He continued by thanking everyone for their love and support for his family.

Thousands of my friends, family and fans reached out to me throughout those six days, Homer said. I’m appreciative of their support as well as that of my stepmother Alexi and father Coley, who continue to be my pillars of strength at this difficult time.

Heche cohabitated with ex-Coley Laffoon for Homer, and ex-James Tupper for son Atlas, 13 years old.

Heche’s death was confirmed on Friday by a representative. Numerous famous people, members of her family, and friends are still praising the Emmy winner on social media.

Heche, 53, was declared brain dead earlier this week, making him legally dead in the state of California. According to a spokeswoman, her corpse is still being kept alive so that her organs can be matched with potential recipients who are in need.

The soap opera and movie star were seriously hurt when her automobile slammed into a garage and then a house in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles, sparking a huge fire. The home’s occupant and her pets were unharmed, but the fire destroyed all of her belongings.

Later, Los Angeles police claimed that a preliminary blood test revealed cocaine in Heche’s system at the time of the collision.

Heche previously spoke about her lifelong struggles with mental illness, which she attributed to her father’s years of sexual abuse of her.

Coley Laffoon, the father of Homer Laffoon, also addressed Heche’s passing in a video shared on Instagram on Friday.
