Justice for Pam Turner: George Floyd Lawyer Turns to Pamela Turner’s Family to Help Them

On Tuesday former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted for murdering George Floyd. The matter already got enough of attention till then the 2019 case of Pamela Turner got associated with the current murder case. Ben Crump who is a high-profile civil rights attorney Ben Crump too wants both the murder cases to get justice. In a statement that he gave to the Associated Press he said –

” If you was outraged when you saw the video of George Floyd got killed by the police, then you should be equally outraged when you see the video of how they killed Pam Turner, an unarmed Black woman laying down on her back that he shot in the face, in the chest and in the stomach,”

Will Pam Turner Ever Get Justice? Who Is She And What Happened To Her? 

Pam Turner who was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia when she was killed by Juan Delacruz in the parking lot of her apartment. This was captured by a bystander. Crump is representing the case of Pam Turner. The case was filed by the turner’s family in a federal lawsuit earlier this year. The complaint is filed against Delacruz, the city of Baytown and the manager of the apartment complex where the shooting took place.

The trial for the case is said to begin from May 25 one year after Turner’s murder. As per the video the too had a fight over his stun gun after which Turner was shot dead by Delacruz. Lt.Steve Dorris officer at Baytown, who has been handling the Turner murder case in a statement said that –

“Our officer was teased, and you have to understand what a Taser is. It’s a weapon designed to incapacitate people. The question is: ‘was the officer in fear for his life?’ I think a logical person would say yes'”. But he is is unable to confirm the fact whether  Delacruz was really tased by Turner after which she was shot five times.

After Derrick Chauvin was verdict in the George Floyd’s murder case Ben Crump said he will hold a march for justice for black women including Turner. Almost a year after Turner’s murder her sister hopes that she will get justice for her sister. In an statement that she made she said –

I finally got a little excitement after the verdict in the George Floyd case that we do have a hope.”
