What is IoT (Internet of Things)? Everything you Need to Know

Nowadays, some devices can talk also, and this is not much surprising. Such devices that can talk are known as IoT (Internet of Things) devices.

The term Internet of Things is said to be first coined by British technology pioneer Kevin Ashton. Ashton co-founded the Auto-ID Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Everything you need to know

The increasing technology in our everyday lives means that the world around us is also getting smarter. The IoT is growing fast and is set to affect more and more areas of our lives in the coming years, resulting in a smart world. It is about extending the power of the internet beyond computers and smartphones to a whole range of environments.

IoT (Internet of Things)

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, or people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.

How does it Work?

It is a system of internet-connected devices. These devices are essentially mini-computer processors that use machine learning to act on data collected by sensors. Data is passed from a device or sensor to the cloud via some type of connection. After collecting data from surroundings, the software processes it, and it sends an alert to a user.

Advantages of IoT

  • As the devices of IoT interact and communicate with each other and do a lot of tasks for us, then they minimize human effort.

IoT (Internet of Things)

  • As it reduces the human effort, then it saves out time.
  • It makes the system more secure and efficient.
  • It enhances the data collection.
