5G Technology: The Next-Gen mobile network, Everything you need to know

5G Technology is the fifth generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks, that began deploying worldwide in 2019.

5G networks are cellular networks, in which the service area is divided into small geographical areas called cells.

According to the GSM Association, it is predicted that 5G networks have more than 1.7 billion subscribers worldwide by 2025. Let’s see how 5G technology is about to change the world.

What is 5G technology and how it works?

The world’s demand for data is increasing day by day at a very high speed. So, we need to be connected wherever we are. Now, we are going to enter the world of 5G networks soon. 5G is the fifth generation wireless mobile network after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G. It is a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone.

It is the planned successor to the 4G networks which provide connectivity to most current cellphones.

5G Technology

Wireless networks are composed of cell sites divided into sectors that send data through radio waves. 5G wireless signals are transmitted through a large number of small stations located in places like building roofs or light poles. 5G relies on MM wave (millimeter wave) spectrum, the band of spectrum between 30 and 300 gigahertz, to generate high speed and can only travel over short distances.

How fast is 5G?

5G download speeds can currently reach up to 1,000 megabits per second (Mbps) or even up to 2.1 Gbps. Downloading an episode from any streaming platform, which may currently take a few minutes, can be completed in just a few seconds. 5G services are already available in various countries. It should start becoming commonly available by 2022.

Benefits of 5G Network

  • The 5G network will have the capacity to increase download speeds by up to 20 times i.e; from 200 Mbps to 10 Gbps.
  • It provides high resolution and large bandwidth.
  • Medical treatment will become easier i.e; a doctor can treat the patient located in a remote part of the world.
