Grand Blue is a Japanese comedy manga series written by Kenji Inoue and illustrated by Kimitake Yoshioka. The series is also known as Grand Blue Dreaming. It is published by Kodansha. Kodansha USA publishes the official English translation of the manga series.

About Grand Blue

The story revolves around Iori Kitahara, an urban boy who moves to the rural coast of the Izu Peninsula to attend university. He is a first-year Mechanical Engineering student at Izu University. He cannot swim and is afraid of water. He just wants to live a normal peaceful life. Iori doesn’t know what is waiting for him. After joining a local diving club, his life is going to be completely changed.

Iori’s uncle owns an enthusiastic diving shop known as “Grand Blue.” He stays in a room above his uncle’s diving shop. Iori meets the members of the local diving club. He is shocked as they spend more time partying and drinking rather than diving. Iori tries to distance himself from the group, but his cousins show him the wonders of diving into the ocean. He ends up trying the sea diving sport himself.

It’s a light and funny manga series featuring the lifestyle of a first-year college student. He makes new friends, gets drunk, and spends time on the beach with his friends. There is also romance, but not in a serious way. If you are looking for a light slice of life manga, this series is a must-read for you.
