The Mercedes Dealership:
After getting a break for the band in the early times, all the bandmates decided to spend the amount of money on 6 luxury cars in the 70s. Therefore, Lionel Richie went to a car dealership in Alabama for that purpose. He wasn’t paid any attention and no one approached him. He said in the interview that, finally an employee came over and asked him to leave if he wasn’t there to buy anything.
Lionel Richie dropped the mic by replying that he wanted to buy 6 Mercedes in different colors.
In the same interview, Lionel also recalls his moment of most regret that he didn’t perform the song ‘Endless Love’, the song that won him an Academy Award, again after the Oscars with Diana Ross in 1981. The hit song was started out as an instrumental and was on the top charts for a long 9 weeks. The duet was recorded between the hectic schedule of both the stars in Canada.
They only got to duet it once. After that, the song has never been performed by them together. They also have never shared the stage together any other time. He says that they could never get their schedules together and it would be one of the things he would miss about the music career.
