Brandon Routh Joining Arrowverse in Major Way, Confirms CW

A new report surfaced claiming that the CW has still planned for the future of Brandon Routh’s character in the celebrated Arrowverse. Routh debuted on the Arrowverse as the DC superhero, Ray Palmer / The Atom in The CW’s Arrow in 2014. He continued appearing in the third season of Arrow as a recurring character.

However, this wasn’t his first superhero journey. Routh previously played fan-favorite Superman in 2006’s Superman Returns. His portrayal of the Man of Steel wasn’t well-received by the fans initially, even though the critics praised his performances. Later, he became a cult favorite and fans wanted to see him again donning the red cape once again.

Although he already exists in the Arrowverse as Atom Man, the CW introduced him as the Superman during the 2019–2020 Arrowverse crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths. Fans were thrilled to watch Routh’s Superman back in action during the crossover event. Some even urged the network to work on the new Routh’s Superman project.

New Superman project with Brandon Routh

The 41-year-old actor appeared in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as the main cast for five seasons. But, he departed the show as a series regular in the 2020 season. Daniel Richtman, a popular insider, has claimed that the CW has some plans with Routh’s version of Superman in Arrowverse.

As of now, there are no specific plans for his return but they do have some ideas to introduce Routh’s superman. The report also claimed that the recent success of Superman & Lois, starring Tyler Hoechlin has motivated the makers to work on new Superman content. Fans have even campaigned to get a new HBO Max show for Routh’s Superman, but this is unlikely.

If the network certainly has more plans for Routh’s Superman, then there is a possibility that he may re-appear in the upcoming crossover event. After all, there is definitely going to be some kind of trouble in the multiverse.
