Zombieland Saga (Japanese: Zonbi Rondu Saga) is a comedy horror anime television series produced by Cygames and Avex Pictures. Season 1 of Zombie Land Saga, created by MAPPA, premiered on October 4, 2018, and became an instant success in Japan, as well as gaining popularity in other markets.
A manga adaptation, written and illustrated by Megumu Soramichi, began serialization on Cygames’ Cycomi website four days after Season 1 premiered, and it went on to boost the success of the already popular new show.
What is Zombieland Saga About?
The show begins by introducing viewers to Sakura Minamoto, a high school student who wishes to become a zombie. Sakura’s hopes, and indeed her life, are cut short when she is hit by a truck and dies in a road accident. Sakura miraculously awakens ten years after her death and discovers herself to be a zombie with no recollection of her past life.
While trying to find out the cause of her resurrection as a zombie, Sakura meets Koutarou Tatsumi, a man who eventually sheds some light on her resurrection as a zombie. Koutarou explains that he has resurrected Sakura, as well as six other girls from various eras, with the intention of reviving the Saga Prefecture’s economy through a zombie idol group.
From then on out, Koutarou plays the role of a ruthless manager and begins arranging shows in order for his zombie idol group, Franchouchou, to achieve the peak of local fame.
The show is an absurd and comical take on Japanese idol culture, and it follows the members of Franchouchou as they strive to become legendary idols while concealing their undead identities.
What’s going to happen in Season 2 of Zombieland Saga?
Here is a quote released by the official Zombieland Saga website depicting the happenings of season 2 of Zombieland saga-
“At the end of the last episode, SAGA prefecture will have a new meaning. This is revenge for fate. A battle to regain our dignity, which has been burned by the flames of irrational fate.”
When will Zombieland Saga Season 2 release?
The Idol Zombie Anime’s 12-part first season premiered in the fall of 2018 and will be simulcast on Crunchyroll.
The release date for Zombieland Saga Season 2 has been announced as April 8, 2021, for the Spring 2021 anime season.
Munehisa Sakai’s studio MAPPA will produce the second season, which will be called “Zombieland Saga Revenge.” The script is written by Shigeru Murakoshi, and the character design is done by Kasumi Fukagawa. Yasuharu Takanashi composed the music.
In addition to the first season’s contributors, well-known voice actors reprise their roles. In a simulcast, Crunchyroll broadcasts the latest episodes from the spring season of 2021 in their original sound with English subtitles.

The second season of Zombieland Saga is set to broadcast at 23:30 on Thursdays & 00:00 on Fridays on April 8, 2021.
