The only bone of contention between the two parties was the Teesta river agreement. The concern was also raised by PM Hasina last year with the PM Narendra Modi in a virtual summit that was held in December month.

The delay is due to West Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, who strongly opposes the agreement, claiming that they can only share Teesta water if it is appropriate for the state.
