The oil painting features a beautiful sunset over Marrakech, Morocco. It was the only one created by the late British prime minister during World War II. And had been given to U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1943 as a birthday gift!
It is considered arguably one of the best paintings of the world. And the best painting by Winston Churchill due to the significance of the subject that was related deeply to him. And the fact that it highlights the importance of the friendship between the two greatest leaders.
Brad Pitt gifted the painting to Angelina Jolie
Jolie and Pitt married in 2014 were one of the most highly anticipated popular couple that Hollywood ever had. They both first met on the 2005 set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Where there love blossomed hence falling in love with each other. They got married but sadly the beautiful couple didn’t last long much and decided to split up in 2016. They were legally declared single in 2019 as both filed for Divorce.
The Painting was initially estimated to sell between $2.09 million to $3.49 million. The art piece was purchased by a random telephone buyer. Who also purchased two other Churchill paintings during that sale, the sources said. Later, it was found that the buyer was none other than Brad Pitt himself. Who gifted the painting to his then-partner Angelina Jolie.
