According to the official confirmation, a major earthquake hits the northeastern coast of Newzealand on Thursday night. This earthquake is quiet major as compared to the other which we see in the last 2 or 3 years. This earthquake was measured at a magnitude of 7.3. On the other hand, the geological survey of U.S confirmed that it’s magnitude is 6.9.
This earthquake was centered at a depth of 10 kilometres or 6 miles and it was under the ocean about 178 km. The source of it is northeast of the city of Gisborne.
According to the local citizens, they feel a little to moderate shaking in the time of earthquake. The whole city and as well as country is afraid about the whole incident. Till now there is no report of any death or something like that.
Though the main earthquake end but there are still chances of aftershocks and Tsunami.
After this fatal incident, it’s quiet obvious that there will be a huge chance of a Tsunami in the coastal areas. The U.S. Tsunami Warning System predicts that there may be a Tsunami very soon where the waves may hit the height of 0.3 meter to 1 meter. The government of Newzealand is already declared a high alert throughout the country and trying to co-operate with their disaster management force to decrease the casualties.
Now we have to watch what happened in the next two or three days. So just hope for the good.
