Samsung Galaxy A12 Hits the Budget Segment; should you Buy it or Not?

Korean smartphone manufacturer, Samsung, is back again to compete in the budget segment with its new launch Samsung Galaxy A12.


Launched in 24 November 2020, the model comes with 6.5 inches PLS IPS display and 720 x 1600 pixels resolution.

It runs on Android 10 OS supported by Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 chipset. The model is based on GSM / HSPA / LTE and has a dual sim slot.

Weighing 205g it has a dimension of 164 x 75.8 x 8.9 mm. Front is made of glass and has a plastic back with a plastic frame.

If we talk about the storage then the smartphone comes in 2 variants– 64GB (4GB RAM) and 128GB (4GB RAM). It also has a dedicated MicroSD card slot to expand the storage upto 1TB.

The rear camera features a quad camera.

The add on features are LED flash, panorama and HDR. It can shoot videos on 1080p@30fps. The selfie camera comes with 8 MP, f/2.2 lens.

Packed with a battery of Li-Po 5000 mAh, non-removable, also supports 15W fast charging. It comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and accelerometer. Browser is HTML5.

Having a loudspeaker and a 3.5 mm jack, other features include WLAN (Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot), Bluetooth (5.0, A2DP, LE), GPS (A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS), NFC (market/region dependent), Radio (FM radio, RDS, recording), USB (Type-C 2.0).

It comes in 4 different colours– Blue, Black, Red and White. However, the 128gb variant does not comes in Red color.

The phone is priced at Rs. 12,999 (in India) for the 64gb/4gb variant. Whereas, the 128gb/4gb model costs Rs. 13,999. It is available in the official Samsung website/store and also in Amazon and Flipkart.


Coming with a whopping 5000 mAh battery, the phone will easily survive a rigorous one day. However excess gaming may result in charging it at the end of the day. Overall it has an excellent battery life. The built of the smartphone is pretty sturdy but do not expect a top notch look as it has a plastic back.

The camera does takes good pictures and the video quality is also satisfying. The smartphone gets extra plus points as it has a 3.5 mm jack and a microSD card slot.

With tidy and good design, packed with an amazing battery life, the phone is pretty impressive. Those looking for a smartphone in the 12000-14000 segment should surely go for Samsung A12.
