Green Card is related to an official document that identifies the permanent residency of a person in the United States. Lawful permanent residents (LPRs) is used for people who are officially holders of Green card. Earlier, the green card was named as “Certificate of alien registration” or an “alien registration receipt card”. If there was found someone without a green card from the age of18 years or older could spend up to 30 days in jail. Moreover, the name ‘green’ was kept after the historical greenish colour.
A person needs to show a preponderance of the evidence that he is living in the US for about five years or more and should possess good moral character Moreover, a person younger than 18-year-old can get a green card directly if that person’s parent, at least one of them, are living (citizenship) in the United States.
Green Card ban ft Donald Trump
Earlier during the government of Donald Trump, he terminated the green card for immigrants reasoning it for the security purpose for COVID 19. Later on 31 December 2020, the ban was extended up to March 2021. Trump announced Proclamation 10014 and Proclamation 10052 and considered the immigrants as ‘risk to the U.S. labor market’.
What’s Joe Biden up to?
Joe Biden has decided to uplift the ban as the halt on the green card will only affect the business of the United States.
“To the contrary, it harms the United States, including by preventing certain family members of United States citizens and lawful permanent residents from joining their families here. It also harms industries in the United States that utilize talent from around the world”, the announcement made by Biden.
This uplift of the ban will be a great moe by the President and it will be helping many Indians who are employed in IT companies.
