Barry Season three
‘Barry’ was such a hit series that HBO renewed the television series for the third season in April 2019. The third season of the show was renewed before the finale of the second season.
This hit show was renewed almost two years ago but still, there are no signs when Barry Season 3 will hit the television screens. It is because the filming of the third season hasn’t started yet. The creators of the show are ready to go as they have the story ready but right now it isn’t possible because of the ongoing pandemic. In the past also show has to stop filming when the show was in pre-production because of the corona-virus.
Barry Season 3 and 4
But in the starting of January, the show’s co-creator Bill Hader was a guest at Late Night with Seth Meyers and in an interview, he opened up about the show’s future. He even told that he and his team already has some plans for the fourth season.
Hader said, “Right when the lockdown happened in March we were a week away from the shooting. The last time I was in a room with a lot of people was the table for episode 1 and 2 of Season 3 and we were ready to go and then it all got shut down, so we actually wrote, Season 3 is completely written and ready to go and then during this time we actually went and wrote Season 4, so we have both of that kind of done, so we’re just waiting until we can start shooting again.”
When the host of the show Seth asked him about the cliff-hanger in season 2 he said, “That’s kind of what we do at the end of every season. You know at the end of season 1 we had written ourselves this kind of cliff-hanger and then… yeah, you do it again and then, you know Alec Berg and I created the show, we were talking about this last night.
It’s a bit like having a recurring character on Saturday Night Live like we were just talking about Stefon. You kind of do the first time you go out and it’s like the first season where you’re like ‘Oh that was fun, seemed like they liked it’ you know.”
He later added,” And then the second time you have a little pressure and you’re getting recognition, and then by the third time you’re doing it… the more I did Stefon or we did the Californians it just got tenser, you know, more pressure on you to do new moves or whatever, and on Barry, I can’t just rely on John Mulaney to make me laugh.
So yeah, it is very very hard and we ended on a classic cliff-hanger and the first day in the writer’s room it was like everyone goes ‘what happens’ and I was like ‘I have no idea. Really, really screwed ourselves here.’ And still saying it. We’re still trying to figure it out.”
Barry Season three release date
For now, the show isn’t filming its next season but they will resume the filming as soon as conditions are back to normal. In an interview with Collider, Stephen Root said, “I think we’re not probably gonna be going back until January to do this, but hopefully HBO is going to let the powers that write Season 4, and this maybe we can do those real quick together.”
This was last year’s interview and here we are in mid-February and there is no information related to the filming of the third season. Stephen was expecting to resume the filming in January. If we think they will start the production and filming of the next season in April and they are planning to film two seasons continuously then we can expect that ‘Barry’ will return to television screens by mid-2022.
