It is great to see an anime surviving the criticism and holding on. A number of good anime come and go with no signs or announcements. No doubt liking an anime is totally subjective. It is a human thing. But what if an anime adaptation fails to live up to the standards the print material did? It has happened several times. A second season to an anime, which was 13 or 26 episodes long, gives a second chance to tighten the loose ends and increase the viewers. Especially for Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest. People loved the manga and the light novels, but a lot of them felt that the anime was lacking. Luckily, Arifureta Season 2 is definitely happening.
About Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest
Arifureta is originally an ongoing web novel by Ryo Shirakome. It has been running since 2013. Later in 2015, Seven Seas Entertainment made Arifureta available in print. There are two light novel series, with the second one being the prequel.
In 2017, it ranked 27 in the best-selling novel series. Apart from the light novels, three ongoing manga adaptations are also being published in Comic Gardo.
In 2019, Whitefox studio and Asread adapted the series into a 13 episode anime. The anime was criticized for some key reasons. Out of these, the most prominent reason was the quality of animation. Apart from this, the other reasons were that the first episode lacked a lot of content and the pacing was slow. These reasons are what helped Arifureta Season 2 to be confirmed by the studio.
The Story Plot
The story is about Hajime Nagumo who is picked on by his classmate for his friendship with Kaori. His school life takes a dramatic turn as he and the rest of his classmates enter another world. To Hajime’s disappointment, everybody gets incredible powers but he gets basic alchemy, which allows him to transmute materials. Because of this, Hajime is looked down upon by others.
Later, they enter the Great Orcus Labyrinth. One of the classmates betrays Hajime, who then falls into the depths of the dungeon. He survives but realizes that he needs to escape. For this, he creates weapons from his transmuting ability and fights the monsters that get in his way, even feeding on them. This changes his DNA and makes him stronger.
Later, Hajime encounters Yue, a vampire who is imprisoned in the dungeon. Because both seek to escape, they form an alliance. Later, a number of characters join them, with Hajime focusing on becoming stronger and return home.
Arifureta Season 2 Release Date
