If you have a thing for fantasy manga series with a serious tone like Fullmetal Alchemist and Attack on Titan, then you might have heard of Seraph of the End. Although the chapters arrive at a slow pace, but it is because each chapter has a page count larger than what we see.
Seraph of the End is created by Takaya Kagami. It is currently ongoing with 99 chapters out, 98 of which are now available in 23 volumes. In 2015, Wit Studio adapted the series into an anime which aired in 2015 for two seasons.
The Plot of Seraph of the End
In 2012, a synthetic virus destroys the mankind, leaving only the children under the age of 13 unaffected. Vampires emerge from below, claiming the world and providing protection to the humans. However, humans do not know they are vampires. As a cost of protection, they need to give away their blood.
In Hyakuya Orphanage, Yuichiro and his friend Mikaela attempt to escape with the rest of the children. However all of them die, with Yuichiro being saved by Guren, the leader of the Moon Demon Company. The organisation works to eliminate vampires. Four years later, Yuichiro aims to avenge the death of his friends.
What Happened In Chapter 99?
In the last chapter, Shinoa tries to possess Shikama Doji, who frees from the chains. After confirming that he has weakened, Shinoa hears his thoughts telling Ashera to capture Mikaela. She tries to warn others, but Shikama manages to put her to sleep.
Meanwhile Guren pushes the squad to capture Mikaela and turn her into cursed gear. Yuichiro thinks that it would save her and Shinoa. Kimizuki tells him that Guren killed Mikaela and turning her into cursed gear would make her a tool. As Yoichiro and Kimizuki raise their grievances against Guren, Shinoa awakes. She understands that they are mere lab rats to Shikama Doji.
Guren accepts his fault behind the destruction, but wishes to resurrect all the humanity. The rest of the squad agree with him. Shinoa later states that Ashera is an enemy. Yu enters the demon world, finding Asumamaru with Mikaela.
Chapter 100 Release Date and Read Online
The hundredth chapter will release on March 1, 2021 in Japanese, and March 3, 2021 in English. You can read all the chapters of Seraph of the End on the official website of VIZ media. It would be available on their Shonen Jump digital magazine along with the latest chapters of other manga.
