We all loved Kiernan Shipka as the teenage witch in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The show had a darker and grim tone. It was a feast to watch something like that. And it is tough to get over the fact that the series has been cancelled despite it had a lot to give. However, there is something that we seemed to miss.
For portraying younger characters, the makers cast younger actors. But sometimes the casting is well, too perfect. Same thing happened for Mckenna Grace, who played the younger Sabrina Spellman. The fans cannot get over the fact that the actors resemble so much.
A Little About Mckenna Grace
Born in Grapevine, Texas; Mckenna Grace has been acting since the age of six. Her early roles were in the TV series Crash & Bernstein and The Young and The Restless. Since then, she has made appearances in a number of movies and television series. Apart from acting, she has also lent her voice in animated series and movies like Scoob! and The Angry Birds Movie.
Some of her most notable roles are child versions of main characters, like in Captain Marvel, she played young Carol Danvers, in The Vampire Diaries as young Caroline Ford, and in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as young Sabrina. She also plays Paige in Young Sheldon and will also appear in the upcoming movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
The Uncanny Resemblances
Most appearances by Grace have been short, that is, for a few episodes. Especially when playing younger characters, you don’t get much screen time but just enough to be noticed. A twitter user Jamie Jirak posted a few pictures in 2020, which showed Grace in all the pictures, alongside the older characters, like Carol Danvers and Sabrina Spellman. The purpose was to show the resemblance.
Along with the collage, he posted that he thinks about this a lot. Clearly, Grace pulled them off very well. But with the Sabrina picture, the responses were amazing. People actually said that Grace looks like Kiernan Shipka. Some even mistook her as young Shipka when they watched the episode “A Midwinter’s Tale”. A user actually responded that she is the ‘Eevee’ of child actors, meaning she can morph into any young character convincingly.
How Does Grace Feel About It?
In 2018 at Critics’ Choice Awards, both Grace and Shipka met each other and were amazed themselves with how alike they looked. While Grace posted a pic of them together in January 2018, saying that they are not the same person, little did she know she would appear in the fantasy series.
Mckenna Grace must have felt the same thing others felt – the actress retweeted Jirak’s post, writing ‘Same’ on top. We could not agree more. Despite being unrelated, they can actually get away as sisters. Maybe we get to see them together as sisters someday. Wouldn’t that be great?
