WB Wanted to Cast Mads Mikkelsen as Joker Before Joaquin Phoenix

“Joker” is one of the best movies globally. Even the actor Joaquin Phoenix did an amazing job at portraying the characters; this movie was Oscar-worthy from the very first. “Joker, “released in 2019, is an American Psychological thriller movie.

Directed and produced by Todd Phillips, it’s a DC Comics character-based film where an alternative origin story of the character provided.

The storyline follows Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian, and clown who has a medical disorder that causes him to laugh at inappropriate times. His nihilism has inspired a violent counter-cultural revolution against the wealthy in a decaying Gotham City.

Who was eyed for the Character?

We have heard much news about how Todd Philips pursued Joaquin Phoenix to become the main character movie. But we never knew if there were choices before, and we cannot help ourselves from imagining how it would have turned out to be with those actors in it.

Though Joaquin Phoenix was offered $50 million to cast, Warner Bros wanted to cast Leonardo DiCaprio, but there is a rumor that WB wanted to cast Mads Mikkelsen. From my perspective, Mad Mikkelsen is a great actor, especially for his act in Hannibal.

He is eyed to play the older Joker in DCEU, but it’s quite unclear who the “real” Clown Prince of Crime will be as it is not yet decided who will play the role lastly.

Latest update on “Joker.”

Though Joker was intended to be a standalone film with no sequels, there were times when everyone has thought of a possibility of a sequel. Primarily Warner Bros. wanted to take this opportunity to introduce a line of DC Comics-based films unrelated to the DCEU with darker, more experimental material.
