Alison Brie’s Parents Didn’t Like Her Character Sloane In Happiest Season: She Explains Why. Read all About it Here!

Directed by Clea DuVall, the movie Happiest Season is a Comedy drama film that debuted in the year 2020. The film was based on a plot written by Clea DuVall and Mary Holland. The movie revolves around the character of a young woman who is a lesbian and has come out in terms of her sexual preference.

However, the problem lies when she plans on proposing to her partner who has not yet done the same. Another issue on the line is that her partner’s parents are conservative meaning that the situation can get pretty messy and she is afraid that her parents might not even accept her.

The protagonist plans on proposing to her partner when they all go to her partner’s family’s house to celebrate the annual holiday party. After knowing that her partner has to yet come out to her parents, the movie takes on a whole new plot and level.

Alison Brie plays the role of Sloane who is Harper’s (Mackenzie Davis) Older sister. She says that her parents did not like the role that she played in the movie. In the movie, one of the scenes shows Sloane revealing that her younger sister Harper is a Lesbian.

Now considering that the parents are pretty conservative, this does create a huge problem and looking at how this scene is playing out, it is obvious why her parents are not really fans of her daughter’s character in the movie.

What does Alison herself have to say about this?

Alison Brie seems to be pretty empathetic with her character as Sloane. She says that when she gets a role, she always tries to add her own understanding and empathy to the role that she is supposed to play. She tries to see the story from a perspective that other people might not try to see it from.

In the end, she says that after reading the story completely, she understands why the character of Sloane is how she is. Understanding all of this, she knows that others, including her own family, might see the character as extremely bad, but being the one who is playing the role, she has put a different perspective into the character.
