Amber Heard vs Emilia Clarke: Who’ll be the Best Mera for Aquaman 2

Amber Heard’s role in Aquaman 2 is being shortened as rumors are swirling up that Emilia Clarke is going to replace Amber as Mera in the Aquaman franchise. Warner Bros studio is trying to replace Amber in order to avoid the backlash regarding recasting her as Mera.

The Controversy

This controversy swirled up following a case involving her ex-husband, Johnny Depp who has been asked to step down from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in the Warner Bros. movie-series Fantastic Beasts after losing his libel lawsuit against The Sun for labeling him a “wife-beater.” Following this incident.

Fans on social media started campaigning against Amber Heard, demanding her to hand the role over to the Game of Thrones star, Emilia. The petition to remove her from the Aquaman franchise is nearing two million signatures.

The Petition

Here’s what the petition claims:

“Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp. In his $50 million lawsuits, Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic abuse that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard…Also, Amber Heard was arrested in 2009 for abusing a former domestic partner, Tasya Van Ree.

Demonstrating a repeated pattern of abuse by Amber Heard. Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry. Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”
